Mitch Apprentice

This August we are going to be talking with four of our employees who joined Systems Technology as apprentices. This week it’s Mitch, who started as an Apprentice Printer Technician in 2011.

Name: Mitch
Department: Technical
Role: Printer Technician
Apprentice Year: 2011-2012
Status: Fulltime Employee

“After attending sixth form I was unsure which career path to take. After a couple of years of bouncing between dead-end jobs, I wanted to start a career where I could learn new skills and earn a wage, so I began looking into apprenticeships.

“I started a Warehouse Logistics Apprenticeship; working in a warehouse may not have been my ambition, but there were opportunities to develop my skills. The apprenticeship meant that I was gaining experience, earning money and working towards a qualification. I built good relations with colleagues, and my confidence improved.

“Once the apprenticeship was complete I started working towards an engineering role, so while working in the warehouse, I was training with engineers in the company. A further year down the line I was an engineer trainee, which suited my hands on attitude very well.

“Without the apprenticeship, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I’m now looking to help develop a new apprentice on my area.”
